| The evolution of
the CSR movement was stimulated in large part
by the reaction of laborers, environmental groups,
consumers, human right activist, mobilized citizens,
and so forth that had become disgruntled by the
irresponsible actions of corporations, which affect
daily both human and environmental life. The CSR
movement reflects the fact that without an individual
and concerted effort to confront a glaring problem,
few corporations will adopt and implement effective
CSR practices.
From this perspective, civil society
members and organizations—which in Latin
America have gradually introduced CSR as an essential
topic for discussion—have begun to maintain
an active account of corporate practices in order
to properly monitor and evaluate the progressive
realization of CSR. Civil society must continue
to promulgate information and strategies that
impel corporations to integrate CSR practices
and likewise impel governments to adopt legislation
and appropriate measures that respect CSR practices.
